Modern and Fully Digital Office
At Elite Dental of Natick we use cutting-edge dental technology to provide you with safe, fast, and effective results!
An intraoral camera is a handheld appliance that is shaped like a wand. The tiny camera at the tip of the appliance takes hundreds of pictures per second to capture an in-depth and accurate image of your mouth. This image is sometimes used to create a digital impression of your teeth and gums. A digital impression is particularly useful for same-day dental crowns.
In the past, most dental professionals had to use traditional x-ray systems, which require film development. These days, we use digital x-rays due to their many benefits. A digital x-ray is safer and much quicker than its film predecessor. If the image comes out blurry, we can instantly retake a new one. Digital x-rays are a crucial diagnostic tool that helps us gain a better understanding of the inner workings of your mouth, more specifically the teeth, roots, and alveolar bone.
3D Cone Beam and Panoramic Imaging
At Elite Dental of Natick, we have a 3D Cone Beam digital x-ray that can take both 3D and 2D images. These both serve different purposes but enable our team to effectively diagnose, treatment plan, and provide you the care you deserve without having to go to another office.
· 2D Panoramic imaging: this feature takes a full x-ray image of all the teeth, gums, bone, joints, sinuses, and nasal area. These images enable the team to evaluate wisdom teeth for possible removal in addition to some tooth replacement work. Panoramic images allows for a much larger area to be seen than the conventional methods of intra-oral x-rays. This allows Dr. Bethany Polnar to see the positioning of teeth within the oral cavity and view the upper and lower jaws in one image. This is helpful in creating plans for many dental procedures.
· 3D Cone Beam imaging: this feature allows us to take a deeper look into the bone, sinus, and nasal areas for tooth replacement treatment planning. We see a 3D image of your skull (top and/or bottom sets of teeth). It allows us to evaluate bone quality and determine where, how many, and when dental implants could be placed. Having this technology available allows us to do all the work in one location in a digital workflow instead of having to go to multiple locations. Our dental implant experts are here to help you evaluate your options with this best-in-class technology. 3D cone beam imaging also allows our Endodontist to evaluate teeth for possible fractures and possible tooth longevity so we can advise on saving the tooth with a root canal versus reviewing tooth replacement scenarios.
The images we receive are highly diagnostic, are significantly clearer, offer multiple magnification options, and allow for enhancement to zero in on areas of concern. As the patient, you are able to be involved in the process, and will be able to see what we see.
