During your whitening appointment, we will apply a high-concentration bleaching solution directly to the surfaces of your teeth. Depending on your individual situation, we may also use an ultraviolet light to improve results and expedite the process. The bleaching solution will be left on the enamel for about 15 minutes before we clean your teeth and repeat the process.
Particularly stubborn stains may require multiple appointments. We may also provide you with custom-fit whitening trays and bleach, so you can continue ZOOM whitening at home in the weeks or months following your procedure. A custom-fit tray, made from an impression of your teeth, is more comfortable and effective than store-bought alternatives.
After Your Whitening Treatment
After your professional ZOOM whitening is complete, we will give you a set of post-procedure instructions. Be sure to wait at least 30 minutes before brushing, eating, or drinking anything other than water. The American Dental Association (ADA) also recommends sticking to white or light foods in the hours and days following your appointment.
It is important to note, teeth whitening is an ongoing process that provides temporary results. However, reducing your consumption of wine, coffee, teas, and acidic foods can significantly improve the longevity of each treatment.
